With so many of us suffering from back pains the question needs to be asked “why?”
We think one of the greatest explanations is from Paul Cook, Fitness Guru, www.paulcookfitness.com. His view is that we no longer use our backs as much as our ancestors. We sit, we drive, we barely walk and we have a plethora of machines to do our daily chores. The back muscles need daily exercise to strengthen them, by doing this we will avoid injuries and pains that so many of us suffer. A great exercise for doing this are ‘supermans’:
Go slowly, do three sets of 5-10, if it hurts stop but keep at it you will notice the difference within a week. Incorporate it into your daily life, every morning do your stretches and include some supermans.
An important point to remember is that if you have hurt yourself, give the muscle a couple of days to settle before booking a massage. We feel immediate treatment can often aggravate the injury whereas giving the muscle a time to rest will be far more beneficial for the therapy.
